Lucy Bright

Lucy Bright is one of the most brilliantly original music supervisors working today. It is because of the music inside her head and in the stacks and stacks of records in her apartment that a film will sound as it does – with Lucy searching for hours to find the particular tone and atmosphere that the director wants. Michael Nyman introduced her to the role, and she has since worked with Nico Muhly, Samantha Morton and Shane Meadows and given McMafia its sound. Along the way she encountered David Bowie (while doing what she describes as a step class at her desk), Nick Cave and Steve Reich, among many others. Lucy has a particular love of the singing traditions of the Aka pygmies in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
