Grace Wales Bonner
Born and raised in Dulwich, South East London, Grace Wales Bonner graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2014 with the dean’s prize for a 10,000-word dissertation she volunteered to write. This innate sense of discipline and an eye for precision is key to her menswear collections, and more recently, womenswear pieces. It’s an approach that clearly works; she won the LVMH prize in 2016, only two years after launching her business. Grace’s work explores themes of British identity and her own African heritage via clothing, photographic collaborations and short films, but with every new project, her starting point remains forensically-detailed research. How does she stay so grounded? Daily meditations, every morning, says Grace.
