Björk Guðmundsdóttir
For over 30 years Björk Guðmundsdóttir has been tantalising, captivating and surprising enraptured fans and bemused commentators with her singular approach to music. Her career took off in her native Iceland as the extraordinary voice of The Sugarcubes, before she struck out on her own in 1993 with the groundbreaking album Debut, which foregrounded an astonishing body of work that has altered the musical landscape ever since. Björk’s collaborations with artists, filmmakers, photographers, designers, inventors, philosophers and engineers have extended her artistic vision and pushed her influence beyond the mere musical. We’re thankful for her.
